Q. Dear Ruchi, I keep getting stuck in old patterns and am working to let go of fear and “level up” to this next chapter in my life. I have big dreams, big goals, and lots of ideas. I know that I often stand in my own way and want to work on trying different techniques to get in the right mindset to achieve these things. I am very interested in the idea of manifestation, vision boarding, etc. I’m not sure where to start or how to take actionable steps toward this. I want to live more powerfully and need a little guidance. What do you suggest?
A. One of the fastest and most effective ways to create a prosperous life for yourself is to visualize it. I mean really, really visualize it so you can feel what it feels like. Visualization is a powerful technique that can help you achieve goals by imagining them as if they are already happening. When we create vivid mental images for ourselves, we influence our thoughts, emotions, and actions in a positive direction while building a stronger mind-body connection. It’s science!
Studies have shown that visualization acts as a mental rehearsal for our minds and can even stimulate the same brain regions as actual experiences. Dr. David R. Hamilton, PhD, explains that whether we perceive events mentally or physically, the brain processes them quite similarly. This idea aligns with the theory that imagining an act can produce effects in the brain comparable to real-life actions, making mental rehearsal a valuable practice for achieving both personal and professional goals (David R Hamilton PhD) (ScienceDaily).
Here are a few ways you can get started creating your own visualization process.
-
Clarify Your Goals: Think about what prosperity means to you (who are you spending your time with? where are you living? what are you spending your days doing?). Create a clear mental picture of what it would feel like and look like to achieve these goals.
-
Engage Your Senses: Use all of your senses to make your visualizations as realistic and vivid as possible. I like to put headphones on and use an eye mask to really focus in on what’s happening in my mind with no distractions.
-
Practice Regularly: Dedicate a few minutes each day to visualize your goals, and reinforce your vision. First thing in the morning, or right before you go to sleep are often powerful times of day when our minds are most relaxed.
-
Use Vision Boards: Create a vision board with images or quotes that represent your prosperous life. This could even be a picture that acts as your phone or laptop background. The key is to have it be something you see frequently and act as a constant reminder.
-
Combine Visualization with Prosperous Beliefs: Pair your visualizations with prosperous beliefs. For example “Every day I am one step closer to living my most prosperous life.”
Take Aligned Action: Now for the most important part… take action! Visualization helps to prepare your mind to take real steps, and now you’ve done it! Think of it as the launch pad to your dreams. Live as if it’s already happening.
Here’s to your prosperity!
